UNDP is one the agencies supporting the Ministry of Health and Social Services to undertake a prevalence survey to determine the true burden of disease due to TB in Namibia.
The project has three objectives;
To measure the prevalence of bacteriologically confirmed TB among the adult population;
To contribute to more updated population-based estimates of the burden of TB disease and
To provide a baseline for future measurement of trends of TB disease burden;
The survey will be population-based and extensive fieldwork will be conducted over a period of 6 months. The survey will be conducted by the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Programme within the Ministry of Health and Social Services;
Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Field Radiographer, the Field Radiography Assistant is responsible for performing radiographic services in the field and maintaining the equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform radiography services in the field;
Perform radiographic procedures in the field;
Ensure quality control of images according to evaluation criteria and managing the PACS software;
Managing and transmitting digital images as per standard operating procedures;
Observe strict radiation control measures pertaining to patients and staff;
Maintain good hygiene of equipment and work areas;
Maintain radiography equipment;
Maintain field radiograph equipment for the survey;
Ensure safe handling and storage of radiography equipment;
Ensure all the equipment is returned for safe custody after each survey trip;
Report any equipment malfunctions immediately to Field Radiographer/Radiography Coordinator;
Perform administrative duties
Ensure proper management of radiography equipment including repairs and replacements;
Keep up-to-date inventory records of radiography equipment;
Keep records of all work done in the field and provide statistical report with regard to radiography services;
Quality assurance of field and central procedures;
Liaising with Field Radiographer on a regular basis;

Required Skills and Experience
2-year Certificate in radiography;
Qualified Radiographic assistant, registered with AHPC of Namibia;
3 years’ experience in a radiography setting;
Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and experience in handling of web based management systems;
Fluency in written and spoken English. Fluency in local languages would be an added advantage.
